Jupyter notebook markdown tips

Tip No. 1- Tip No. 100000: play around and click every button. If you are willing to do this continuously, you will be better than half of the programmers soon, and probably can answer most of the questions in Stackoverflow related to Jupyter Notebook markdown. Go ahead, it won’t break. The worst it could happen is restart. If you have to undo, hit Esc, then ctrl + z.

Emphasis Bold text: __string__ or **string**

Italic text: _string_ or *string*

Math Surround your math with dollar sign.  For example:

$ 1/2 $

Monospace font Surround text with a grave accent (`)

You can use the monospace font for file paths, file names, or something you want people to notice.

Line breaks To force line break, use <br>
Indent Use the greater than sign (>) followed by a space
Bullets To create a circular bullet point, use one of the following methods. Each bullet point must be on its own line.

A hyphen (-) followed by one or two spaces, for example: – Bulleted item

A space, a hyphen (-) and a space, for example: – Bulleted item

An asterisk (*) followed by one or two spaces, for example: * Bulleted item

Numbered lists To create a numbered list, enter 1. followed by a space
Color boxes <div class=”alert alert-block alert-info”> <b>Tip:</b> Use blue boxes (alert-info) for tips and notes.</div>

<div class=”alert alert-block alert-warning”><b>Example or math </b> Yellow</div>

<div class=”alert alert-block alert-success”><b>Up to you:</b> Use green boxes sparingly</div>

Graphics You can attach image files directly to a notebook in Markdown cells by dragging and dropping it into the cell. Unfortunately, you cannot add captions to graphics.
Horizontal lines On a new line, enter three asterisks:

Table Use | (pipe symbol) and – (dash) to mark columns and rows.   Notebook will automatically align the table cells.
